Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. The establishment media smear machine is officially dead and buried. Rand Paul has extended his lead over Democratic opponent Jack Conway to a massive 15 points, proving that when the distrusted and discredited corporate media attacks anyone now, it actually increases their popularity.
“Rand Paul, a tea party-backed Republican running for a U.S. Senate seat in Kentucky, is leading his Democratic rival Jack Conway by 15 points, according to a new poll by SurveyUSA,” reports the Wall Street Journal.
The article points out that polls conducted in August showed Paul ahead by a region in between 5 and 10 points, indicating that he has almost doubled his lead since the latest pathetic attempt by the establishment media to smear the Kentucky candidate.
In early August, the corporate media launched a hoax hit piece against Paul, claiming that he had kidnapped and force drugged a woman in college, even after the anonymous woman retracted her story and admitted that the episode was a harmless college prank that she had willingly participated in and that ‘the whole thing had been blown out of proportion’ by the media.
Even after the woman had recanted, the Washington Post persisted in attributing importance to the fact that Paul had jokingly told his friend to “worship the Aqua Buddha” nearly 30 years ago.
The farce represented a culmination of increasingly ridiculous attempts to discredit the Kentucky primary winner on behalf of the corporate media, after Paul was subjected to at least one smear attack per month since his victory over establishment Republican Trey Grayson back in May.
Despite being constantly smeared as an extremist, a racist and someone who is unfit for office, Paul’s early slim lead over Conway has consistently grown after each hit piece, proving that the establishment media is so distrusted, despised and discredited, that when they attack someone, it actually helps to increase their popularity amongst the American people.
At one stage, neo-cons and neo-libs alike claimed that Paul’s nuanced philosophical view on one of the ten titles of the Civil Rights Act, which the media twisted to the point where Paul became a de facto Klan member, had led to the ‘collapse of his political career’.
Media hacks who consider themselves to be part of the establishment still have the arrogance to think that they can dictate the nature of reality with the stroke of a pen or the tapping of a keyboard. The fact that Paul has stretched his lead over Conway despite coming under savage attack from every angle proves that these individuals are still living under the delusion of believing the mainstream press still holds gravitas.
