IN HIS GRIP

Without your purpose being fueled with a passion for a far greater cause than yourself, it will be impossible for you to engage life fully, if at all.

When we hear people reflect on what God is going to do based on their limited understanding, we should rather encourage them to ask God proactive questions like, “God what do you want me to do to be involved in your solution for this?"

From time to time, I receive emails suggesting that God has rejected America, that the bloodshed of 50,000,000 innocent souls through abortion and the acts of immorality and abominations has come to its full and therefore, God has cast off our nation.

I disagree.

Until the angel of the Lord comes down and removes the faithful from the land, the mercy of God is still within our reach, and we should never, ever give up our hope because of our limited understanding. What is necessary is for us to expand our understanding of God so that we can expand our expectation of Him.

Can the grace and mercy of God be measured?

Can you know His deepest thoughts?

Can you fathom the width of His patience?

Has He told you of impending wrath to be poured upon America?

Are there signs for you to head to the hills and run?

When we hear people reflect on what God is going to do based on their limited understanding, we should rather encourage them to ask God proactive questions like, “God what do you want me to do to be involved in your solution for this?" As I read the scriptures, I read of judgment, and condemnation of nations that turned from Him. Yes, those things are there and they are true. It might even be true for America. However, such news never stopped God’s people from weeping between at the altar for mercy on their land. They wept because loved their country, and they loved their God.

I hear the faithful talking back to God and, therefore, God talking back to them. Are you asking God questions or telling someone what God is going to do because of your lack of personal experience of what God can do. This is not faith; it is fear.

My advice is to plead with God for understanding and ask Him for His plan. For us to presume we know His will is to be spiritually reckless without truly knowing what’s on His mind. America is like any other nation. God can handle this!

America needs the sovereign hand of God to deliver her from evil men. Nothing new. This is something God has been doing since He made man. Nothing big—nothing so major as for people to throw in the towel and invoke God’s wrath, rather than to follow the example of the Old Testament patriarch, Abraham, and intercede for a nation (Genesis 18:16-33)

God has America in His grip!

Despite our own inability to comprehend His truth, His mercy, His longsuffering, His compassion, His graciousness, and His readiness to show Himself strong, God still has America in His grip!

But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. (Psalms 86:15)

Does this mean America will not be judged?

No. However, this is not the issue. It was because God was going to judge Sodom and Gomorrah that Abraham sought God to have mercy. He never stopped believing for God to turn away His wrath, and he wasn't even a citizen of that land; his nephew Lot was. If we live in America, why aren’t we crying out to God to spare America rather than sitting in judgment as if we want to hasten judgment upon it?

Furthermore, I believe God will hold those accountable who thought Him to be a mere man, to leave America helpless without His power being demonstrated to oust evil leaders of the land. I believe God is disappointed when we think of Him so quickly as a God of wrath more so than a God of mercy. Let me be clear; I realize that when God is done with a nation, He is done. This is not our call. Our call is to please Him until He has wiped His hands clean of a nation.

Why can’t we believe this could be our finest hour to show God how much we trust Him?

Why can’t we believe that there are more of us who desire truth to triumph than those who are servants of evil?

Why are we so slow of heart to see God’s power to overthrow evil plans rather than overthrow our nation?

Why? I think the following explanation might shed some light.

We tend to think along these lines partly due to the fact that we are slow to know HIM for ourselves. We are slow to invite Him into the private issues of our lives. We are slow to welcome Him to aid us in our own troubles, and because we have not allowed Him to do these things for us personally—the things to extend beyond the religious norm of attending church or an occasional miracle—we are slow to believe that He can do anything for America that is outright miraculous. God has not given up on America; however, many Americans have given up on God’s ability to reach beyond their own level of faith and understanding.

Be assured that God is not an American. He is not regulated by Washington, and does not require a congressional hearing to pass a bill. He can accomplish this all by Himself—if WE have faith!

Abraham “knew” God. He just didn’t know OF Him. Not knowing God is more our problem than Obama, Pelosi, Reid and all such leaders who push a socialistic tyrannical agenda combined. We are so acquainted with "Sodom and Gomorrah" that we fail to see the God who made it. We are so enamored with the sins of our nation; we fail to be overwhelmed with the God of our nation.

Do you know God or do you know of Him? Are you in His grip? If you are in His grip, you can and should know what He is capable of. Space fails me to tell of all of His wonderful acts. However, let me just tell you of a few:

He can raise the DEAD.
He can heal all diseases.
He can feed over five thousand people with a few fish.
He can walk on water.
He can demand a living tree to die.
He can speak the worlds into existence.
He knows your thoughts from afar off.
He knows your words before you speak them.
He knows the plans of the wicked before they do them.
He knows the number of hairs on your head.
He knows the bird that just fell from the sky and died.
He knows the end from the beginning.
He knows the length of your life.
He knows your hurts even before you experience them.
He knows the number of teardrops that your eyes have shed.
He knows the stars by name, although they cannot be numbered.
He knows the width of space because it came out of Him.
He knows, He knows, He knows!

There is not anything that God does not know, because His knowledge created everything!

Whether or not America’s days have come to an end is not for us to know or to even be the factor involved in expecting God to do good. What God wants to know is if you believe Him. Leave the business of God judging the nations to God; you make it your business to simply judge Him as the faithful God that He is. Therefore, when you stand before Him on that day of judgment, you can have confidence that you believed Him for mercy upon your nation, even as you believed Him for mercy upon yourself.

What if Abraham didn’t pray for God to extend mercy to Sodom and Gomorrah? The focus should not be on what happened when God did extend judgment, rather, let's focus on what happened between Abraham and God. They became closer friends because Abraham knew not only the judgment of God, but also His mercy.

He was in His grip.

Are you?
